A Whitehall man was arrested on a warrant in Fair Haven after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop.

Garth Martel, 24, of Whitehall was stopped after police saw him swerve out of his lane several times. He was arrested for illegally taking fish from on a prior warrant.

While they were running his license, police discovered Martel was wanted on an arrest warrant stemming fromMarch 11, 2011incident in which he illegally took fish from theConnecticut River. 

Garth was also charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Martel was arrested and sent to Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of bail.

Patrolman Todd Prevost handled the arrest.
