News from Castleton Free Library – Thank you!

By Mary Kearns, director

A big thank you to our Castleton and Hubbardton voters who voted to support the Castleton Free Library. We give you our sincere thanks.

We are striving to be a place where there is something for everyone and everyone feels welcome.

If you haven’t been to the library lately, please stop in. We would love to show you around and tell you about all the great things the library is doing.

Need to print out a receipt or a shipping label? We can help with that!

Is your power out and you need to charge your phone or computer? Stop in to charge up and use the free wi-fi, which is also accessible outside the library building 24/7.

Want to begin a new hobby? We can get books on just about any topic to get you started.

Do you need to get the kiddos out of the house? Bring them to the library to check out a book or DVD, or bring them to story hour on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. We have coloring books, puzzles, games or the kids can simply play.

The library is still the place to get a bestselling or classic book, a new or vintage film or an audiobook. We also have museum and park passes and a whole collection of items that can be checked out, like snowshoes, bicycles, costumes and more!

Need a library card? Come in a let us set up account up for you.

We are so proud of our little library in Castleton. (Can you tell?) Thank you again, we sincerely appreciate your support!

The 2022-2023 Vermont Reads books are here! Stop by and pick up a copy of “The Most Costly Journey: Stories of Migrant Farmworkers in Vermont Drawn by New England Cartoonists.” Save Thursday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. for a community book discussion. The meeting will take place at Castleton University’s Hoff Hall Conference Room. A campus map can be found on our and CU’s website. Representatives from the nonprofit organization Migrant Justice will be in attendance as well as farmworkers. They will talk about the challenges they face as well as the organizing work that they are doing to change the situation through the Milk with Dignity Campaign. Thank you to the Vermont Humanities Council for their support.

Our free take-and-make craft kits are ready for pick up. This month’s kit is a banner to welcome spring.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for announcements and updates.

Hope to see you at the library!
