Granville FFA students place at convention

Twenty-one Granville students recently went to the New York State FFA Convention in Albion, N.Y., and many fared well in various categories.

“This was an amazing adventure and a giant success story,” Advisor Terry Wheeler said of the event.

The Farm Business Management Team, consisting of Kassie Ambrosi, Emily Campbell, Emily LaFlamme and Marc Billow, claimed first place and will move on to the national competition in Louisville, Ky.

And Dan Truso took first for both District 3 STAR Farmer and NYS STAR Farmer in Agri-Business.

“On top of all this success Dan Truso was elected to New York state office. Dan served as the District 3 president last year, and this year he will be traveling the entire state of New York serving the FFA members,” Wheeler said.

Tim Tennant, Lauren Bucciero, Seth Browe and Dan Cook, of the Junior Quiz Bowl Team, took second place, and Andrea Kibling had a second, too, for public relations. The Senior Quiz Bowl Team also did well, taking third for the efforts of Phil Hicks, Shelby McEachron, Brad Perry and Heidi Smith.

For AG Sales, Mariah Miner, Hannah Jones, Kathryn Dennison and Campbell came in fourth. And Dan Cook, meanwhile, took a sixth for Tool ID.

Smith, Hicks, McEachron, Kibling, Truso, Perry and Campbell were all awarded New York State Empire Degrees as well.
