After breaking out for 30 runs in the first two games, Whitehall’s softball team was held without a run against Fort Ann Monday evening.

The railroaders were only able to manage two hits against Fort Ann as Kindra Monahan a strong game for the Cardinals.

Brittney Putorti had four strikeouts in a strong performance for Whitehall.

Ariel Ayers and Mindy Trombley each had a single at the plate for Whitehall.

The loss capped an otherwise strong opening week for Whitehall.

On April 26, the railroaders opened their season on the road with an extra innings win against Bolton.

Whitehall nearly gave the game away, surrendering four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning forcing the Railroaders to score four runs in the top of the eighth to win.

Whitehall took a 1-0 lead in the third and tacked on another run in the fourth inning. Bolton cut the lead to one before the Railroaders scored a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Trombley had two RBI’s for Whitehall and Vickie Christian, Hillary Fenton and Ariel Ayers each drove in a run.

Brittany Putorti struck out 11 to earn the win.

The hot hitting continued Friday as Whitehall beat up Warrensburg 21-4.

Whitehall was in an early hole after one inning trailing 1-0 before the bats came alive as the Railroaders scored three times in the top of the second inning.

The scored every inning afterwards, including five in the fifth and eight in the seventh.

Kaitlyn Fiorini doubled and had two hits, Ayers tripled and Megan Rozell and Brianna McDonald doubled for Whitehall

Purtorti improved to 2-0 with the win.

After three games, Whitehall’s record is 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.
