Fort Ann Girls Open with Win
The Fort Ann girls soccer tesm opened the season with s 3-1 win over Ticonderoga in a non-league match.
The Cardinals led 1-0 at the half and scored twice in the second half to clinch the victory.
Savannah Aratare gave Fort Ann a 1-0 lead at the 31:14 mark of the first half with an assist from Jadyn Mitchell.
Addy Munson brought the Sentinels even with 23:27 to play in the contest off a helper from Mayleigh Drinkwine.
The Cardinals put the game away with goals from Addy Munson and Olivia Winchell two minutes apart in the final seven minutes. Ella Gadway assisted on Munson’s goal.
Baylee Wright recorded seven saves for Fort Ann. Keirra Bechard stopped 10 shots for Ticonderoga.
Fort Ann is 1-0. Ticonderoga is 0-1.
Poultney Defeats Mill River in OT
The Poultney girls soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Mill River in overtime.
Eme Silverman recorded a hat trick, scoring three times for the Blue Devils.
Mazie Pavlakis added an assist for Poultney.
Bella St. Pierre scored both Mill River goals.
First-year goalie Julia Handley played another strong game in goal for the Blue Devils.
Poultney is 1-1. Mill River is 0-2.
Fair Haven Rolls Over Green Mountain
The Fair Haven girls soccer team flexed their early season muscles, rolling past Green Mountain 8-0 on Wednesday.
Eighth grader Leah Kretzer had a breakout game for the Slaters, hitting the back of the net five times.
Maddy Perry added a hat trick with three goals for Fair Haven.
Perry added two assists and Kretzer one. Sophia Russell added an assist.
Kate Hadwen had the shutout in goal with eight saves. Honore Hazen had four saves for Green Mountain.
Fair Haven is 2-0. Green Mountain is 0-2.
