GREENWICH – Dubbed the largest agricultural fair in New York State, the Washington County Fair has wrapped up another run at the fairgrounds in Greenwich. Of course, animals of all kinds highlighted the gathering once again. One of the local farms displaying the beef stock is GRJ Cattle of Greenwich. Greg Rowland telling NYVT Media he had been coming to the fair since he was kid. He looked forward to it each year then and still does today.

Slate Valley Farms of Granville could be found displaying all their homemade products in the County Bounty building. Gina Brackeen proudly pointing out they work with other local farms in their production process. She noted they have been so busy they have had to move their retail location to Glens Falls at The Shirt Factory, unit 104. Their line of maple sugar products, beeswax and home canned jams and jellies are also available at many other shops around the county.

Another organization playing a prominent role at the fair was the BOCES CTE (career and technical education) program. Lead by Alison Brownell, the program provides career alternatives for high school students in real world programs taught by New York State certified industry experts. CTE had a booth set up at the fair where those interested could explore the possibilities, such as their culinary program, which prepared and handed out free chips and salsa each day.

The fair experienced one day of severe weather, which forced it to close early on Wednesday. Final attendance numbers were not available as of press time.
