WHITEHALL – Any excuse for a party! Well, this one happens to be a darn good one, in fact, it’s not even an excuse at all but a celebration. Cigar Brothers Brewing on Broadway is celebrating its one-year anniversary and will do so in style.

Opened last year in a renovated garage, Brian and Ellen McKee with partners Martha and Alan Sweenor took a chance they could brew a standout local beer, serve it in their cozy bar, along with food trucks and a relaxing backyard with a swing and fire pits and be successful.

Build it and they will come is the famous phrase for the Field of Dreams movie. The partners bought into the concept, and sure enough, the patrons did come.

Cigar Brothers has several different beers on tap…all brewed in their backroom. No big-name commercial breweries products here. They have food available but unlike the beer, it is not of their own making. Every weekend you will see a local food truck parked outside, where customers can order their dinners or snacks, bring them into the bar or enjoy themselves outside. You can take your adult beverage outside too, just not off the grounds,

Cigar Brothers does not distribute their product but does have a tap or two in local restaurants.

Of course, what is a birthday without a party. That will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a local band entertaining. They expect lots of friends to join them in blowing out the candle.
