Tiffany Lorraine Carrera, 27, went to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully, on Tuesday, July 29, 2024, at her home in Greenville, South Carolina.
Tiffany was born on September 12, 1996, in Rutland, Vermont to Bruce and Bernadette Hall Carrera.
She attended Granville Elementary School for her primary years, Truthville Christian Academy for junior high, and then, graduated from homeschooling in 2014. She graduated from Adirondack Community College in May 2018, with a degree in Culinary Arts. When Chef Matthew Bolton from ACC heard about Tiffany’s passing, he said they will be setting up a scholarship in her name.
You wouldn’t have known that her large and small intestines were disconnected at birth or that she had unpredictable seizures and loss of memory of late because she had a big smile for everyone she met.
Tiffany was born with Cystic Fibrosis and had a double- lung and liver transplant at Boston Children’s Hospital on July 3, 2014, and that’s where she celebrated her 18th birthday. Many a hospital became her second home. She also had Type 1 Diabetes, Osteoporosis, and End- Stage Renal Failure- of which she did PD at home, then, hemodialysis at a center.
She loved using her camera to take pictures, especially of people, and photographed a softball game with special needs children, of whom she had a soft spot for. She was even involved in “A Night to Shine” as a buddy, in Saratoga, NY. She also loved crafting and antiquing. She eventually wanted to go back to school to become a Child Life Specialist, since she could empathize with them, personally, and be by their side the whole time.
Besides her parents, Tiffany is survived by her older sister, Danielle Carrera of Syracuse, NY and her older brother, Christopher Carrera, and his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Talia, of Gaffney, SC., as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of friends.
Tiffany was predeceased by her uncle, Floyd Carrera, her paternal grandparents, Louie and Doris Casey Carrera, her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Mary Jones Hall, and a baby cousin, Jonathon Lennox.
Tiffany’s wish was to be cremated, so as such, on August 13, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Mauldin, SC, there will be visitation from 3:30-4:30, and a service from 4:30-5:30.
Friends and relatives are invited to stay afterwards, to continue the celebration of Tiffany’s life, in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made in Tiffany’s name to any of the following: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Kidney Foundation, Special Olympics, or the Joyful Heart Foundation.
