Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I’m Keith Harrington.

Blue Devils Fall to Proctor in State Quarterfinals

It’s the end of an era for Poultney girl’s sports. A group that has been the mainstay of all Blue Devils programs for the last four or five years saw their careers come to an end. It will take some time before the blue and gold is worn by a class as deep.

This group of Proctor seniors have also seen their fair share of success, but they are not done yet. The Phantoms have their sites on another title before they hang up their cleats.

Poultney jumped out to an early lead and then battled back all day long before falling to Proctor 20-9 in the Vermont Division IV quarterfinals.

The Blue Devils led 3-0 after the top of the first, but the Phantoms scored three in the bottom of the frame.

A six-run third gave Proctor a 9-3 lead, then the Phantoms put Poultney away with a five-run sixth.

Rhi Lubazewski led Proctor with four hits including a two-run homer and six RBIs.

Isabel Greb, Cadence Goodwin, and Olivia Outslay had multiple hit games for the Phantoms.

Goodwin went the distance to earn the win in the circle.

Kaylee Hunt, Mazie Pavlakis, and Bri Martelle for Poultney. Jade Thomas contributed an RBI single.

No. 3 Proctor, 13-3, advances to meet rival West Rutland in the semifinals.

Poultney ends the season 7-10 and begins the quest for the next impactful group to transform the Blue Devil programs the way this year’s seniors did.
