The Arts & Entertainment Network has, according to broadcast reports, asked for permission from the NYS Department of Corrections to interview 66-year-old Kevin Monahan, the man convicted in January of this year in the April 2023 shooting death of 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis.

The report, first aired by WRGB, also contains a copy of a letter her father, Andrew Gillis, has sent to the network, expressing his outrage at the request, calling it “in extremely poor taste” and a “slap in the face” to Kaylin and the family. He also expresses his disappointment with Disney, who is the parent company of A&E, noting how much of a fan his daughter was of Disney World.

Gillis also indicates he is in touch with all major news networks to publicly show his level of disgust if A&E “moves forward with this extremely tasteless action.”

Monahan is currently serving 25 years to life in a western New York prison. His conviction is under appeal.
