Tanaforts Defeat Fort Ann in Class D Baseball

Defending Class D champion Hartford-Fort Edward advanced to the semifinals with a 5-1 win over Fort Ann at Bob Wilkins Field on Saturday. The win avenges a regular-season loss to the Cardinals.

Kile Whitney earned the win on the bump for the Tanaforts. Whitney went 5 ⅓ innings, giving up one earned run while striking out seven. Joe Allen came on to close out the win.

Danny Boucher had a double, single, and an RBI to lead the Hartford-Fort Edward offense.

Whitney added an RBI single to help his own cause.

Hunter Charpentier led the Cardinals with three hits.

Hartford-Fort Edward is now 10-6 and will face Hadley-Luzerne on Monday in the semifinals.

Granville Season Comes to an End

Adirondack League champion Granville saw their season come to an end, falling to unbeaten top-seed Mechanicville 13-3 in five innings in the Section II Class B quarterfinals.

Things started on a positive note for the Golden Horde as they plated a run in the top of the first to lead 1-0.

It was all Mechanicville after that. The Red Raiders scored eight runs in the bottom of the frame, a single run in the second, and four in the third to take a 13-1 advantage. It was more than they needed.

The Golden Horde attempted to extend the game with a pair of runs in the fifth, but couldn’t inch any closer.

Will Coreno went 4 for 4, and Cruz Goverski was 3 for 3 with two RBIs to lead the Red Raiders.

Chris Couser was also 3 for 3. Scotty Lynch was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Jack Brue and John Fedorowicz drove in two runs apiece.

John Fedorowicz and Chris Crouser shared the pitching duties for Mechanicville, combining to hold the Golden Horde to five hits, striking out three.

Evan Norton, Kole Plude, Logan Breton, Liam Farrell, and RJ Monger each had hits for Granville.

Mechanicville is now 18-0. Granville finishes 12-4.

Hadley-Luzerne Blanks Scots

Hadley-Luzerne punched their ticket to the Class D semifinals, blanking Argyle 8-0 on Saturday.

Matt Case and Noah Springer combined on a one-hit shutout for the Eagles.

Springer added a double and an RBI at the plate. Evan Kader hit a triple with two RBIs. Taylor Smead added two hits and two RBIs.

Ben Cuthbert provided Argyle with their only hit.

Second-seeded Hadley-Luzerne meets Hartford in the semifinals on Monday. The Eagles improve to 10-8 on the season.

Argyle ends the season 3-11.

Warrensburg Edges Clippers

Top-seeded Germantown survived a scare as they edged Germantown 5-4 in eight innings in the Class C quarterfinals.

Evan LaPell connected for a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth to drive in Louis Lang to give the Burghers the walk-off win.

Brady Cheney stayed perfect on the mound this season, going the distance, allowing two earned runs and striking out nine.

Stevie Schloss went 2 for 4 for the Burghers. Freshman Paul Moore and sophomore Owen Jones added RBI singles for Warrensburg.

Warrensburg is now 16-3 and will meet No. 5 Mekeel Christian in the semifinals on Monday.
