An Argyle man has been arrested and faces charges of sexual abuse of a child.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has charged 46-year-old Michael W. Colvin of Argyle with first-degree and second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

The sheriff’s investigation determined that Colvin allegedly had sexual contact with a juvenile female under the age of 11, for over a year, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation it was also determined that Colvin allegedly possessed a firearm, a handgun, which he was not permitted to own, according to law enforcement.

Colvin was arraigned and remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bond or $100,000 secured bond.

Washington County Child Protective Services assisted in the investigation.
