Allen Tosses No-Hitter in H-FE Win

Joe Allen tossed a complete game no-hitter as Hartford-Fort Edward blanked rival Argyle 14-0 in Adirondack League baseball. The win keeps the Tanaforts hopes for a league playoff spot alive. H-FE needs Whitehall to defeat Corinth Monday to hand them the fourth seed.

Allen struck out 12 and walked only one on his way to the pitching gem.

Zach Bartholomew added two hits with a bases-clearing triple and four RBIs for the Tanaforts.

Hartford-Fort Edward finishes 6-4 in league play. Argyle drops to 2-7.

Fort Ann Rallies to Knock Off Generals

Fort Ann stayed in the playoff hunt, rallying in the seventh inning to defeat top-ranked Salem 5-4 in Adirondack League softball.

The Cardinals faced a 3-1 deficit in the final frame, but plated four runs to take a 5-3 lead and held on for the crucial victory.

Savannah Aratare drove in a pair of runs on a fielder’s choice to tie the game at 3-3. Kayleigh Hardy and Cherokie Steves bunted to drive in runs to give Fort Ann a 5-3 advantage.

Baylee Wright paced the Cardinal offense with two singles. Riley Gallagher doubled, and Savannah Aratare contributed a single.

Bella Eastman hit a double and single to lead Salem. Sophia Keays chipped in three singles. Bella Garrison and Hannah Gongola both smacked triples.

Fort Ann is 8-3, 8-3. Salem is 9-2, 11-3.

Argyle Edges Tanagers in Key Matchup

Argyle edged Hartford 4-2 in Adirondack League softball to keep pace in the race for the final spots in the league championship playoffs.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the top of the seventh, but Argyle scored three runs to capture the lead. The Tanagers left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

The Scots once again rode the arms of their 1-2 pitching combination of Maddy Eldred and Grace Depew. Eldred and Depew combined for 10 Ks for Argyle.

Depew, Riley Kober and Brooke Austin each had hits for the Scots.

Ava Nadeau and Cailin Severance connected for two hits apiece for Hartford. Silver Stewart was 1 for 3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Raeghan Liebig recorded five Ks for the Tanagers.

Argyle improved to 8-3, 9-5. Hartford falls to 7-4, 7-5.
