Salem Defeats Horde in Battle of Unbeatens

Salem took advantage of five Granville errors in the fourth inning to pull away, then held on to defeat the Golden Horde 8-4 in a battle of Adirondack League unbeatens.

The Generals struck first, parlaying two walks and an error into a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Granville got a run back in the third. McKenna McKnight drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on an Ella Olsen RBI single.

Salem pushed across six runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 advantage.

Lauren Bascom came in to pitch for the Golden Horde to begin the fifth and didn’t allow a run the rest of the contest. Bascom gave up just one hit and struck out six over three innings of work.

Granville closed the gap to 8-2 in the sixth when Bascom singled and advanced to third on an error. Haylie Barber reached on a Salem error to score Bascom.

In the bottom of the seventh Granville tried to rally. Melissa Beaver reached on an error and Cecil Velez doubled to cut the deficit to 8-3. Barber drove in Velez to make it 8-4 but Salem starter Sophia Keyes closed out the win by inducing a flyout.

Keyes was the winning pitcher for the Generals.

Keays finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Generals. Riley Gallagher, Bella Garrison, and Jenna McCauliffe added RBIs.

Salem improves to 7-0, 9-1. Granville fell to 5-1, 6-1.

Whitehall Outscores Lake George in ADK Softball

Whitehall claimed a high-scoring affair over Lake George, outscoring the Lakers 16-10 in Adirondack League softball. It was a rematch of last year’s league championship game.

Lake George led 5-4 after the second inning and 7-4 after the top of the fourth, but Whitehall plated five runs each in the fourth and fifth to pull away for the victory. The Railroaders led 8-7 after the fourth and increased the margin to 13-8 after the fifth.

Khloe Paddock led the Railroaders at the plate. Paddock went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Paddock also earned the win in the circle, scattering nine hits and striking out 15.

Marissa Eggleston also had a stellar contest. Eggleston was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Emily Lyng, Mia Waters, and Bella Spitoleri also contributed hits to the Whitehall cause. Spitoleri, Lilly Lavin, and Piper Rathbun each drove in two runs.

Alex Cavalier and McKenna Bennett hit doubles for the Lakers.

Whitehall is now 4-3, 4-4. Lake George is 3-3, 3-3.

North Warren Tops Cardinals

North Warren continued their hot start to the season behind a strong performance on offense and on the bump from Wyatt Jennings as they topped Fort Ann 9-5 in an Adirondack League contest.

Wyatt Jennings struck out 10 batters in six innings of work, and blasted a two-run homer and two singles for the Cougars.

Maceo Matson added two singles. Tyler Hitchcock added two hits and two RBIs for North Warren.

Hunter Charpentier and Josh Dornan each had two hits for the Cardinals. Dornan doubled and drove in two runs.

North Warren is now 5-1, 6-1. Fort Ann is 3-4, 4-6.

Poultney Falls to Rivendell

The Poultney baseball team had trouble finding the strike zone as they fell to Rivendell 20-8 on Thursday. Blue Devil pitchers walked 18 batters.

Poultney was led by Nico Milazzo who had two hits. as well as Peyton Book chipped in a triple.

The Raptors were led by a triple from Cillian Kenneally.

Poultney dropped to 0-3.

Hurricanes Hold off Far Haven

Fair Haven rallied from a 10-run deficit but Hartford held them off for a 17-14 victory.

Riley Babbie struck out six in four innings in the circle for Fair Haven. Tori Raymond struck out four in three innings.

Raymond had three singles for the Slaters. Vic Genier contributed a single and double.

Paige Vielleux earned the win in the circle for the Hurricanes with 10Ks. Vielleux also doubled and singled.

Becca Keelty and Madison Willey added two hits apiece for Hartford.

Fair Haven is 2-4.

Hurricanes Edge Fair Haven in Baseball

Hartford rallied in the seventh inning to edge Fair Haven 12-10 in high school baseball.

Wyatt Chambers homered for Hartford. Zach Johnson had two doubles and a single for the Hurricanes.

Cody Adams drove in three runs for The Slaters. Trey Lee had two singles and two steals. Sam Kyhill and Luke Senecal contributed RBIs.

Joe Buxton had seven Ks for Fair Haven.

Hartford is 3-1. Fair Haven is 0-4.
