TanaForts Fall to Black Bears in Opener
The Hartford-Fort Edward baseball team enters the 2024 season with high expectations. The TanaForts won the Section II Class D title a year ago and return plenty of key players.
Harford-Fort Edward opened their season Monday by challenging Glens Falls of the Foothills Council. The Black Bears came away with an 11-7 victory in the non-league contest.
Jeffery Woodell pitched 3 2/3 innings of no-hit ball in relief for Glens Falls.
Brady Girard, Quinn LaMountain, and Sammy Palmer had two hits each to pace the Black Bears. Palmer and LaMountain each scored two runs. Girard contributed two RBIs.
For Hartford-Fort Edward, Brayden Whitney had a pair of hits. Jace Venner drove in two runs. Joe Allen scored two runs.
Glens Falls is 1-0. Hartford-Fort Edward is 0-1.
Greenwich Rolls Past Hoosic Valley
Greenwich opened the season by rolling past Hoosic Valley 14-1 in Wasaren League baseball.
An eight-run seventh inning put the game away for the Witches.
Cooper Skiff pitched a complete game to earn the win on the bump. Skiff gave up just seven hits and struck out six.
Max Anatriello hit a double and two singles for Greenwich. Ryan Ingber and Hunter Logan added a double and single, and Owen Brockway doubled for the Witches.
Anatriello and Ingber each drove in three runs, and Brockway and Logan added two RBIs apiece.
.Connor King and Logan Reilly each doubled and singled for the Hawks.
Greenwich is now 1-0, 1-1. Hoosic Valley is 0-1, 1-3.
