Burghers Sweep in Wooden Bat Tournament

Warrensburg swept a pair of opponents in winning the title of the Warrensburg Wooden Bat Tournament on Monday. The Burgers defeated Mill River of Clarendon, Vermont and Adirondack League foe Fort Ann.

In the opening round Warrensburg rolled past Mill River 20-0 in five innings.

Caleb Remington, Paul Moore and Caden Allen combined for a one-hitter on the bump for the Burghers.

Remington also went 3 for 5 at the plate with a double. Ben Holcomb went 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and scored three runs. Stevie Schloss added three runs and two hits. Allen and Brady Cheney each went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs.

In the championship game Warrensburg blanked Fort Ann 7-0.

Cheney and Schloss combined to throw a no-hitter. Brady struck out six in two innings of work and Schloss recorded eight Ks in three innings.

Schloss had a strong game at the plate with a triple, single and three runs scored. Remington chipped in a pair of safeties.

Schloss was named the Most Valauble Player of the event.

Warrensburg remains perfect at 3-0 in the early season.
