The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has charged Lucas J. Smith, 24, with numerous counts following a 9-1-1 call from his residence for a 10-month-old child having ingested cocaine.

The child was taken to the Glens Falls Hospital and later transferred to Albany Medical Center, where authorities say he is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Smith is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, third-degree possession of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies say their investigation into the incident is continuing. Smith is currently in the Washington County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.
