SVL Coaches Name Girls Basketball All-Stars
The coaches of the Southern Vermont League recently met to name their SVL Girls Basketball All-Stars for the 2023-2024 season, and several local players are represented.
In Division D Makayla Dambrackas of Arlington was named Coach of the Year.
Being named to the first team were Isabel Greb of Proctor, Sidney Herrington of Arlington, Arlington’s Taylor Wilkins, Mount St. Joseph’s Gabby Boudreau and Lauryn Charron, Mill River’s Emma Haley and Long Trail’s Molly Luikart and Camilla Marcy.
Receiving Honorable Mention were Aubrie Hawley, Arlington; Rose Johnson, Long Trail; Jada Hughes, Stella Miglorie, Mill River; Hailey Hayes, Jacque Oberg, Poultney; Cadence Goodwin, Proctor; Ava Lacaillade, Sharon.
Gordon Barnaby of White River Valley was named Coach of the Year for the C Division.
Grabbing first-team honors were Tanner Drury and Ashlyn Rhoades of White River Valley, Laura Kamel and Abby Nystrom of Bellows Falls, Leland & Gray’s Maggie Parker, and Woodstock’s Georgia Tarleton.
Honorable Mention went to Nola Sciacca, Bellows Falls; Karen Vargas, Green Mountain; Mary Sanderson, Leland & Gray; Lilly Murray, Mason Fahey, Rivendell; Olivia Tuller, White River Valley.
In the B Division Windsor’s Kabray Rockwood was named Coach of the Year.
Peyton Guay, West Rutland’s all-time leading scorer headlines the B Division first-team. Joining her are Springfield’s Macie Stagner, Hartford’s Charlotte Jasmin, Windsor’s Sydney Perry, and Sophia Rockwood.
HonorableMention was received by Madison Willey, Hartford; Breanna Bovey, Otter Valley; Bella Coombs, West Rutland; Audrey Rupp, Brianna Barton, Windsor.
The A Division Coach of the Year was Rutland’s Nate Bellomo.
Division II state champions Fair Haven placed two players on the A Division first team, Kate Hadwen and Izzy Cole.
Joining Hadwen and Cole on the first squad are Rutland’s Anna Moser and Jasmine Evans and Brattleboro’s Reese Croutworst.
Earning honorable mention were Kaitlyn Pattison, Abigail Henry, Brattleboro; Julia Decker, Burr and Burton; Lily Briggs, Fair Haven; Taeya Guetti, Mount Anthony.
