Just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 23, the Granville Fire Department was dispatched to a working structure fire behind a residence at 60 North St. in the village.

Fire Chief Mike Zinn called for a second alarm, bringing in the Middle and North Granville fire departments, as well as Hartford firefighters and equipment to the scene.

The fire consumed a storage barn filled with equipment, Zinn said.

Efforts to extinguish the blaze were hampered by a metal roof that collapsed inward, requiring its removal before the fire could be completely put out.

Zinn said no animals were involved and no firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Washington County Office of Public Safety.

Zinn expressed gratitude to all emergency crews who responded to the call.
