Slate Valley Cares (formerly “Fair Haven Concerned”) is a nonprofit organization serving the Slate Valley region since 1983. Slate Valley Cares recognizes and assists community members in times of need by offering direct services such as a Right to Food Center (or “food bank”) and a Thrift Shop, as well as by connecting individuals and families with the agencies and organizations that can serve their needs.

Slate Valley Cares’ Emergency Services work in tandem with these organizations to ensure that no one falls through the cracks in their time of critical need. With the support of food rescue partners, volunteers and donors, Slate Valley Cares provides food security to well over 6,000 visitors per year, across the Slate Valley region and beyond.

Slate Valley Cares currently seeks financial support in funding another year of food security and emergency services. For the first time in 41 years of operation, Slate Valley Cares invites 2024 corporate and community sponsors.

Annual sponsorship tiers are available from $500 to $3,000, with corresponding sponsor benefits symbolic of Slate Valley Cares’ sincere appreciation, according to the organization.

Benefits include year-long acknowledgements on the Slate Valley Cares website, social media, storefront window, community events signage, and Farmer’s Market banners. In daily operations, Slate Valley Cares interfaces with a number of organizations, volunteer groups, community members in need, and generous supporters. To these audiences, Slate Valley Cares will acknowledge the support of its annual sponsors throughout the year.

The goal of Slate Valley Cares’ 2024 Annual Sponsorship is to raise $25,000, most urgently needed for fresh food purchases throughout the year. As it currently stands, especially in consideration of steadily increasing levels of need, the Slate Valley Cares monthly budget is insufficient in keeping the food shelves stocked each month, relying heavily on food rescue and individual donations to get through the month, according to the group.

Statewide, Vermont is witnessing increasing levels of need – from food and housing, to heating and energy. Vermonters of all ages need help.

“Slate Valley Cares is here to help our neighbors with dignity and determination, regardless of residence, race, creed, ability, gender, sex or sexual orientation,” according to the organization. “It is Slate Valley Cares’ sincere hope and request that local companies and community members join in support of Slate Valley Cares’ mission of food security and community resilience.”
