Phantoms Top Blue Devils on Senior Night
It was Senior Night for the Poultney boys basketball team at Capman Court Friday, but Proctor wasn’t phased by the hoopla. The Phantoms raced to a commanding first-quarter lead and then held off a Blue Devil’s comeback effort in a 70-45 victory.
Poultney seniors Tegan Capman, Ryan Simons and Jayden Mead were honored.
Proctor led 30-5 after the first quarter and 42-19 at halftime.
Poultney pulled within 13 points in the third quarter but could not get any closer.
Carter Crossman paced the Phantoms with 27 points. Aaron Brock contributed 17 and Chase Razanouski 14.
Ari Camp had 11 points for the Blue Devils. Peyton Book chipped in eight, Erik Kendall seven, and Wyatt Gillet six.
Proctor ends the season 13-7. Poultney closes at 9-11 after an 0-7 start.
Hadley-Luzerne Advances in Class C
Hadley-Luzerne made the long trek to Germantown worthwhile, defeating the Clippers 52-46 in a Class C boys basketball preliminary round game.
The Eagles now advance to meet No. Duanesburg on Tuesday.
Danny Duel scored 18 points to lead Hadley-Luzerne.
Taylor Smead and Eugene Conroy each added 13 points for the Eagles.
Mason Ferrer led the Clippers with 14 points.
Hadley-Luzerne is now 6-15.
Salem Falls to Mayfield
Salem saw their season come to an end after falling to Mayfield 61-34 in a Class C preliminary round contest.
Brody Page had a double-double for the Panthers with 21 points and 20 rebounds.
Blaise Barrett led the Generals with 13 points, and Josh Harrington had six points and seven rebounds.
Greenwich Takes Down Waterford
Greenwich advanced in Class C, taking down Waterford 68-48 in a preliminary round game.
The Witches will not take on No. 3 Berne-Knox on Tuesday night.
Ryan Ingber and Jack Saunders each scored 20 points.
Cal Curtis contributed 14 points for Greenwich.
Derek Pontore led the Fordians with 20 points. Matthew Soden added 18.
Greenwich improves to 7-14.
Cambridge Defeats Canjo
Cambridge won a Class C boys basketball preliminary game, defeating Canajoharie 52-49.
Tully Mahar scored 14 points to pace Cambridge.
Mason MacDougall added 12 points and Luke MacDougall added 11.
Antonio Fairley led the Cougars with 22 points.
Cambridge will now meet top-seeded Maple Hill on Tuesday.
Cambridge is now 6-15.
