Evans Surpasses 1,000 Points, Riverhawks Defeat Railroaders
The Whitehall boys basketball team was defeated 53-46 by Corinth in an Adirondack League boys basketball game, but it was a monumental night for one Railroader.
Junior Latrell Evans poured in 28 points and surpassed the 1,000 career point mark for Whitehall. Evans becomes the eighth Railroader in history to eclipse the plateau.
Kaden Wright and Hunter Shanahan each contributed 13 points for the Riverhawks. Braydin Stone chipped in 12 for Corinth.
Corinth is now 13-6 on the season. Whitehall drops to 12-6.
Railroaders Take Down Horde in ADK Crossover
The Whitehall girls basketball team took control from the opening tip and went on to take down Granville 41-20 in an Adirondack League crossover game. The win avenges a regular-season loss to the Golden Horde for the Railroaders.
Whitehall raced out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter. The Railroaders kept their patented defensive clamps in the second stanza, outscoring Granville 20-4 to blow the game open at 32-6.
The Railroaders struggled to score in the third, but the Golden Horde only scored six points to close the gap narrowly.
The teams played evenly in the final frame, but the strong first half by Whitehall was too much to overcome.
Samantha Howland and Emily Lyng led the Railroaders with 11 points each.
Ella Olsen scored nine points for the Golden Horde.
Whitehall improved to 8-11. Granville is 8-10.
Poultney Boys Stay Hot
The Poultney boys basketball team stayed red-hot, traveling to Arlington and spoiling the Eagles Senior Night with a narrow 61-55 win.
After an 0-7 start to the season, Poultney has now won 9 out of their last 10.
Peyton Book led the Blue Devils with 27 points. Ryan Simons and Erik Kendall contributed 12 points each.
Carson Clark had 23 points for Arlington. Kyle Hess had 11.
Poultney is now 9-8 on the season.
Poultney Girls Cruise over Phoenix
The Poultney girls cruised past Sharon Academy for the second time in less than a week, this time 32-6 at Capman Court.
Emily McFadden had 10 points for the Blue Devils.
Poultney improved to 7-9.
Burghers Roll Past Hadley-Luzerne
Warrensburg hosted Hadley-Luzerne in the gold bracket consolation game Friday night. Warrensburg rolled to a 51-28 victory.
Hope Sherman recorded a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds for the Burghers.
Zailey Baker finished with 14 points and 5 assists. Caitlin O’Donnell had a strong game for Warrensburg with 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
Madison Lent finished with 17 points to lead Hadley-Luzerne.
Warrensburg finished the regular season with a 17-3 record. Hadley-Luzerne finishes 10-10.
Fort Ann Defeats Salem
Fort Ann earned a win in an Adirondack League crossover game, defeating Salem 65-43.
Kaydence Cutter led the Cardinals with 20 points.
Marcus Stowhas scored 12 points for Fort Ann. Garrett Brown added 11.
Josh Harrington led the Generals with 19 points. Blaise Barrett chipped in 12 and Patrick Stone 10.
Fort Ann is now 4-14.
