Cambridge Earns Non-League Win Over Hartford
The Cambridge girls basketball team has enjoyed playing Adirondack League opponents the last couple of weeks. After a recent close win over Whitehall, Cambridge took down Hartford 54-36 on Thursday night in a non-league contest.
Cambridge took control right from the start, leading 11-5 after a quarter and 24-12 at the half.
The Tanagers used a 13-10 third quarter advantage to slice the deficit to 34-15 heading to the fourth.
Cambridge responded with a 20-11 final stanza to put the game away.
Samantha Crandall led Cambridge with 20 points.
Ashley Moses, Claire Toleman and Nicole LaFountain had nine points each for Cambridge.
Alawnah Dunda and Cailin Severance each scored nine points for the Tanagers.
Cambridge is now 8-10. Hartford is 10-5.
Blue Devils Fight off MSJ
Poultney built a 10-point lead heading to the fourth quarter and then held off an MSJ rally for a 35-32 win over the Mounties in Vermont girls basketball at Capman Court.
The Blue Devils led 28-18 heading to the final stanza, but the Mounties used a 14-6 spurt to pull within 34-32 with 15 seconds remaining.
Gabby Boudreau fueled the MSJ comeback with a pair of key 3-pointers and nine fourth-quarter points in her former stomping grounds.
A foul shot by Bella Mack gave Poultney a three-point edge and the Mounties could not connect on a final shot.
Jacque Oberg led the Blue Devils with 10 points. Olivia Despres added seven. Hailey Hayes and Annaleice Taylor chipped in five.
Lauryn Charron led the Mounties with 10 points, Boudreau contributed nine and Bella Anderson six.
Poultney raised their mark to 5-8. MSJ is 6-7.
Greenwich Rolls Over Spa Catholic
Greenwich stayed perfect on the season, rolling over Spa Catholic 72-20 in a Wasaren League girls basketball matchup.
Brooke Kuzmich led the Witches with 22 points. Kuzmich also hauled down nine boards.
Arianna Rojas added a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Grace Autiello chipped in 12 points.
Greenwich improved to 17-0.
