William Edward Moersch,82, of Poultney Vermont, made his journey to heaven and to his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waterbury, CT, son of William and Dorothy Moersch. Heenlisted in the US Army and received his degree as a Registered Nurse from the University of Maryland. He married his wife, Barbara Moersch in Punta Gorda Florida, on December 2, 1999.
He served in the US Army and was later employed by the Department of Defense. He worked 35 years as a Critical Care Nurse, 12 in Europe (Sicily, Germany, and Greece) and 23 years in the United States. He was an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. He was an accomplished chef, though not by trade, and spent much of his time sharing his love of cooking and entertaining with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and experiencing all that life had to offer. He will be remembered for his quick wit, ability to bring you into his world and worldly adventures through his stories and memories. He had a love of family that was truly beyond measure and shared his loving heart with all that were fortunate enough to have met him.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara “Sam” Moersch; daughters, Michele Beaulieu, Lisa Velke (Paul Velke), Kimberly Nelson (Mark Nelson), his stepchildren Shawn and Christopher Proper, Patrick and Stephen Sabo and his grandchildren, Andrew Dunbar, Nicholas Beaulieu, Michayla and Christopher Hazard, Carmellina “Allie” Moersch, Emily Julian, Avery Flory, Evan and Kelton Moersch, Lauren and Hannah Nelson, Jacob and Christoper Proper, Sammy, DJ and Tyler Proper; great grandchildren Jackson Dunbar and Markee Nelson, as well as his sister, Carol Stanon. He is predeceased by his son, Cameron Moersch, grandson Erik Nelson and his sister Sandra Akerson.
Funeral/Celebration of life will be held on January 27, 2024 at 3pm at the American Legion 689 Granville Street, Poultney, VT 05764.
