Rutland Hands Fair Haven Girls First Loss

Rutland raced out to a big early lead and went on to defeat Fair Haven 44-27 in Vermont girls high school basketball. It was the first loss of the season for the Slaters.

Rutland fashioned a 21-2 lead and led 25-9 at the half.

Anna Moser paced Rutland with 22 points. Emma Grimes chipped in eight.

Lily Briggs had 10 points for Fair Haven.

Rutland improved to 6-5. Fair Haven falls to 9-1.

Scots Hold off Fort Edward in Defensive Battle

Points were difficult to come by as Argyle held off Fort Edward 49-36 in Adirondack League boys basketball Wednesday evening.

The Scots led 10-4 after a quarter and extended the margin to 23-14 at the break.

The Flying Forts used a 15-10 third quarter to slice the deficit to 33-29, but Argyle closed the game with a 16-7 fourth quarter advantage.

Brandon Saunders led Argyle with a game-high 22 points. Dru Austin added 12.

Fort Edward got 14 points from Zach Bartholomew. Cal Boucher and Dan Boucher added seven points each.

Argyle is now 5-2, 8-2. Fort Edward is 2-3, 3-5.

Hadley-Luzerne Girls Win

The Hadley-Luzerne girls basketball team picked up a win, topping Waterford 46-37 in a non-league contest.

Gabby Graham poured in 22 points for the Eagles. Madison Lent added 12 points and Leena Haskell 11.

Rachel Mcomber led the Fordians with 12 points. Piper Morris and Maddy Atwood contributed nine points each.

Hadley-Luzerne is now 7-7.

Salem Falls to Doane Stuart

Salem got a strong performance from Josh Harrington but still came up short, falling to Kipp Troy Prep 50-33 in a non-league contest.

Harrington scored 16 points and hauled down 14 rebounds to record a double-double for the Generals.

Blaise Barrett added eight points for Salem.

Doane Stuart Defeats Fort Ann

Doane Stuart got a huge game from Julius Brown as they defeated Fort Ann 66-54 in non-league boys basketball.

Brown poured in 38 points to lead the Thunder Chickens.

Javier Hernandez and Alejandro Stowhas had 14 points each for the Cardinals.

Garrett Brown added 13 points for Fort Ann.
