WHITEHALL-Lorraine Catherine Brooks, 91 of Whitehall, New York, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.
Lorraine was born in Whitehall, NY on March 4, 1932, to the late Henry and Sophronia (Senecal) Rodd. Lorraine remained in Whitehall her entire life, marrying the love of her life, Marvin A. Brooks on October 21, 1951, at Notre Dame Church. Together they were happily married for 59 years until his passing in 2010.
Lorraine retired from Troy Savings Bank as the Assistant Manager, and it is here that she made some of her closest lifelong friends.
She was a strong minded, independent woman, with a love for all animals especially the stray cats she cared for over the years. She loved all of her “wild birds” that frequented her many bird feeders daily.
Lorraine was predeceased not only by her husband, Marvin, but also her beloved son, Stephen J. Brooks. A brother, Robert Rodd, her sisters: June Trombley and Dorothy Cenate. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Gordon, her daughter Deborah (Richard) Scarpetti, her daughter in law, Nancy Brooks-Smith, her four, grandchildren: Jodi (Greg) Austin, Stephen M Brooks, Gina (Matthew) Whalen, and Richard (Emily) Scarpetti as well as her seven great grandchildren: Brooke and Heidi Austin, Chloe and Matthew Whalen, and Gemma, Eloise, and Marie Anne Scarpetti.
She was a lifelong communicant of the Our Lady of Angles Church until its closing, then transferring to Our Lady of Hope Church.
Friends and family are welcome to join in A Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 9 Wheeler Avenue, Whitehall, NY. At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.
