Warrensburg Rolls Over Cardinals in Opener
The Warrensburg girls basketball team has high hopes for the 2023-2024 season. The Burghers are coming off a 15-7 campaign where they made it to the Section II Class C semifinals and have plenty of returning talent.
Warrensburg opened the season in impressive fashion Tuesday night as they rolled over Fort Ann 56-19 in a non-league contest on the Cardinal’s home court.
Warrensburg coach Scott Smith plans to play an uptempo game this season and that appeared to be on display in the team’s debut. The Burghers raced out to an 18-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Hope Sherman led the Burghers on offense with 18 points.
Eli York added 13 points and Zailey Baker had eight.
Fort Ann got six points from Ary LaPointe.
Warrensburg is 1-0. Fort Ann is 0-1.
