Nov. 4

10:54 a.m. – Police were called to a Williams Street location for a report of two dogs having attacked the complainant’s cat. She claims they are the same two dogs that allegedly killed another one of her cats in October. She was unable to locate the owner of the animals. The cat received injuries to its rear left side. The owner was advised to keep vet bills to submit once the dog’s owner has been located. Around noon, the animals were located by police, who followed them home and spoke with the owner, who advised he was unaware they had gotten out of his yard. The dogs were quarantined inside the residence until the animal control officer arrived. The investigation is pending.

Nov. 6

5:05 am. – A Granville officer assisted NYS Police on a call about a person’s welfare. Initial information was passed along by the FBI, who had received the information via snap chat. Granville Police responded with the troopers to the indicated address. Residents there denied any involvement and the case was closed.

Nov. 7

6:30 a.m. – A village resident called to report he had just confronted two youths, about 16 years of age, who had broken a mirror on his vehicle. He did not want them arrested but hoped they would receive a stern warning. The responding officer was unable to locate the youths.

7:30 a.m. – Police were called to a Quaker Street address for a report of two people in a parked vehicle, vaping, and possibly sharing with two underage individuals. During the subsequent investigation, the pair said they were in the parking lot of the store to purchase gas, as they had run out. They denied allowing underage individuals to indulge with any vaping. They were advised vaping near the school and being in contact with students was not a wise practice and any further occurrence might result in stronger police action.

11:35 a.m.

A Morrison Avenue resident complained to police his vehicle had its paint chipped in several locations by a village street sweeper. The complainant also showed the responding officer that one side of his vehicle was cleaner than the other. He was advised the village contracts out the street sweeping. A check with the DPW showed there was no street sweeping that day. The resident was offered the opportunity to file a report but declined, indicating he would repair the damage himself.

12:59 p.m. – A citizen reported there were two people who appeared to be passed out in a jeep in a store parking lot on Quaker Street. Upon investigation, the driver was identified as 36-year-old Jeffrey Fifield of Granville. The officer also found an open container of an alcoholic beverage in his possession. Further investigation revealed Fifield has a suspended driver’s license. He was charged with allegedly drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The uniform traffic tickets are returnable to Village Court at a later date.

7:26 p.m. –  A resident called to say strange noises could be heard coming from the Pember Museum on West Main Street. He believed someone might be in the building. The responding officer checked the premises without finding evidence of an intruder. The scene was then cleared.

Nov. 8

9:35 a.m. Police responded to a property damage accident on East Main Street. The driver reported a deer ran into the road from an adjoining field, causing serious damage to the vehicle, but no injury. The deer was given to a passing motorist.

Nov. 1

4 p.m. – The New York State Police have released information about the arrest of a 58-year-old Queensbury man for alleged third-degree coercion. John Daly Jr. was accused by troopers of reportedly soliciting the victim to provide revealing photographs in exchange for a preferential leasing opportunity on a Dresden apartment.

Daly was arrested, arraigned and release on his own recognizance.
