Greenwich, Cambridge Players Named Wasaren League Girls Soccer All-Stars

The coaches of the Wasaren League recently named their 2023 girls soccer all-stars. Local teams Greenwich and Cambridge were well represented.

Molly Abate, a senior forward was named to the first team from Cambridge.

Senior forward Lizzie Marci of Greenwich also received first-team honors.

Cambridge senior forwards Mia Alpy and Samantha Crandall were named to the second team.

Greenwich midfielder Eliza McQueen and forward Sarah Radovich, both sophomores also made the second team.

Several players received the league’s top awards. Waterford eighth-grader Payton Galuski and senior Maddy Atwood, who helped the Fordians to a tie for the state Class C championship, were chosen as the Wasaren League’s Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively. Stillwater junior Isabella Mack was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Also selected to the first team were Waterford’s Imani Bloomfield, Cassidy McClement and Izzy Vecchio; Stillwater’s Bridget Coon, Mayzie Gibeault and Elliott Patenaude; and Mechanicville’s Madison Daley, Evie Dowd, Maddy Hopeck, Marisa Krosky and Courtney Toher.
