Olden 16th, Gibbs 51st at State Cross Country Meet

Amber Gibbs will go down as one of the most decorated cross country runners in the history of Granville Central School. Gibbs concluded her high school career Saturday with a solid performance at the New York State Championship meet at Vernon-Verona High School in Verona, NY.

Gibbs, in her second straight appearance at states, crossed the finish line in 51st place. Her time of 21:33.30 was nearly a minute faster than she navigated the course a year ago.

Gibbs won back-to-back Adirondack League championships and was named the circuit’s Most Valuable Runner the last two seasons. Gibbs was unbeaten in league meets for over two years.

Warrensburg’s Brody Olden, also making his second straight trip to the state meet placed 16th in the Class D boys race with a time of 16:59.70.

Liam Linehan of Lake George was the highest finisher for the Lakers, crossing the line in 18:55.70. Lake George won the Section II team event last weekend.

Lakers Advance to State Championships

The Lake George volleyball team advanced to the New York State Championship Tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of Hamilton in the Class D final.

Set scores were 25-19, 26-24, 25-21.

Evie Burke filled the stat sheet for the Lakers with eight kills, 10 assists, and eight digs. Josie Duers contributed 26 digs. Shannon Briggs added 21 assists and nine points.

Angelina Minnear finished with 10 kills Emily Guidetti recorded 13 service points and four aces. Grace Barber had 12 digs and 12 points for Lake George.

Lake George will meet Section IX champion Tuxedo on Saturday at 7:15 pm at Cool Insuring Arena.

The Lakers are now 16-3.

Fort Ann Falls in State Semifinals

The Fort Ann girls soccer saw their outstanding run come to an end as they fell to Cincinnatus 6-0 in the Class D semifinal round in Homer.

Cassia Schuyler scored four goals to lead Cincinnatus to the victory.

Peyton Stith also added a goal.

Fort Ann ends the season 13-5-2.

Cincinnatus went on to win the state crown 3-0 over Fillmore.

Cinnannatus finishes 21-0-2.
