WHITEHALL- Atlee Theodore Thomas III “Bo” passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by family, at the age of 70.

 Born on April 1, 1953, at Glens Falls Hospital, he was the first son of the late Atlee Thomas Jr and Jacqueline (Jones) Thomas, of Whitehall, NY. 

After high school, Atlee attended Coastal Carolina College of the Marine Corps Institute in Washington, DC.  He was a Fleet Marine during the Vietnam War and trained to become a rifle instructor at Parris Island, later earning several medals and 2 military commendations for his service.  Following his military duties, he was employed as a train conductor for the Delaware and Hudson (D&H) Railroad for 21 years, following in his father’s footsteps. 

After his retirement from the railroad, Atlee became a ballroom dancer and had hoped to winter in Buenos Aires learning the Argentine tango.  He made many friends during this time and became quite accomplished in his dancing abilities.  In his later years, he enjoyed driving throughout the area, his many plethora of cats, and visiting and buying gifts for his twin nephews, Tyler &Derek. 

Survivors include his sister, Darla Thomas; brother, David Thomas (Amy); niece, Julie Gosselin; nephews, Thomas Gosselin, Tyler Thomas (Taryn), and Derek Thomas (Nikki); great-nieces Elizabeth Gosselin (Dakota) and Sydney Mickel; and great-great-nephew and niece, Theodore and Samantha Squires and several cousins. 

The family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice and special friends, Deb Arquette & Shirley Roberts for their kindness and compassion. 

There will be no services held.
