The Granville field hockey team had a banner season. The Golden Horde lost two closely contested games to Hoosick Falls to come up short in the Adirondack-Wasaren League title race. Now Katie Barber’s squad is seeking a third shot at the Panthers in the sectional final.
Another game against unbeaten Hoosick Falls is possible as the Panthers and Golden Horde were seeded in opposite brackets for the Section II Class C tournament.
Granville was awarded the No. 3 seed and will begin the playoffs at home on Wednesday against No. 6 Corinth. The Golden Horde swept the Riverhawks in a pair of meetings this season. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Unbeaten Hoosick Falls, who edged Granville 4-3 and 3-2 during the season, is the top seed and received a bye. The Panthers will face the winner of the contest between No. 4 Schuylerville and No. 5 Greenwich.
Johnstown is the No. 2 seed. The Sir Bills will host No. 7 Salem-Cambridge in the first round.
Semifinal games are set for October 24th at sites yet to be determined.
The championship game is scheduled for October 29th at Queensbury High School.
