Free concerts in Glens Falls and Salem

The Folklife Center will be hosting Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman on their American tour for two free concerts at two sites, in Glens Falls and Salem, NY, on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 19 and 20.

This partnership between the celebrated guitarist and Irish harper has presented its musical vision in 22 countries on five continents, in venues ranging from the tiniest of village halls to palaces in Kyoto and Istanbul, London’s Barbican, Sydney Town Hall and the Philharmonie in Cologne.

Expect a blend of traditional Irish music, hot jazz, bluegrass and baroque, spiced with new compositions.

Free local performances will be on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at the Folklife Center at the Crandall Public Library, 251 Glen St., Glens Falls, and again on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at the Historic Salem Courthouse, 58 East Broadway in Salem.
