Tanagers Edge Fort Ann on the Pitch

You would have to dig deep into the archives of the Hartford scorebook to find the last time the boy’s soccer team defeated Lake George and Fort Ann in the same week. Heck, in the same season. Coming off a 3-2 win over the Lake George earlier in the week the Tanagers edged Fort Ann 2-1 on Friday in Adirondack League play.

Hartford jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Nate Fiske and Aiden Swezey.

Tyler Winchell scored on an assist from Garrett Brown in the second half to bring the Cardinals 2-1, but the Tanagers held on for the win.

John Gauthier contributed an assist for Hartford.

Austin Wells recorded 11 saves in goal for the Tanagers.

Hunter Wade finished with 12 stops in goal for the Cardinals.

Hartford improved to 2-2, 2-3. Fort Ann drops to 1-2, 1-3.

Granville Field Hockey Blanks Greenwich

Granville and Greenwich have had some classic battles in field hockey over the years. Friday the Golden Horde and Witches had another tight battle. When the final horn sounded Granville came away with a 2-0 victory in an Adirondack-Wasaren League contest.

Haylie Barber hit the back of the cage twice to lead the Golden Horde.

Melissa Beaver added an assist for Granville.

Megan Decker had the shutout in goal with two saves. Decker has not given up a goal so far this season.

Granville held a 23-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Olivia Warner finished with nine saves for the Witches.

“It was tough getting back into game mode after not having a game since last Saturday,” Golden Horde coach Katie Barber said. “But every player gave 100%. This is a fun group to watch.”

Granville is now 3-0, 4-0. The Golden Horde have outscored their opponents 20-0 in the early season.

Hartford Sweeps Warrensburg

Hartford stayed unbeaten in the young season as they swept Warrensburg 3-0 in Adirondack League volleyball.

Set scores were 25-6, 25-7, 25-13.

Raeghan Liebig led Hartford with seven kills, 11 digs, nine points, and five aces. Ava Nadeau also chipped in seven kills.

Cassie Wade added 22 assists, 10 points, four aces, and five digs. Madison Whaley had 14 points, six aces, five blocks, and three kills for the Tanagers.

The Burghers got three points each from Emma Belanger and Abbie Morehouse.

Hartford is now 4-0, 5-1.

Poultney Falls at Arlington

Poultney traveled to Arlington to take on the Eagles under the lights. The home team came away with the shutout victory, topping the Blue Devils 2-0.

The game was deadlocked 0-0 with under 15 minutes to play, but Arlington scored a pair of late goals.

Sidney Herrington and Julie Papa hit the back of the net to give the Eagles the win.

Kenzie Ezzo played a strong game in goal for Poultney.

Fair Haven Stays Perfect

The Fair Haven girl’s soccer team stayed perfect on the season, defeating Mount Anthony 3-1.

The Slaters led 3-0 at the half and fought off the Patriots the rest of the contest,

Maddy Perry scored two goals to pace Fair Haven. Ayame Merkel added a goal.

Lily Briggs and Elizabeth Love both had an assist for the Slaters.

Rowie Rella-Neill scored the Mount Anthony goal.

Fair Haven is now 4-0.
