Hartford Sweeps Cambridge in Volleyball
Hartford earned a non-league volleyball win, sweeping Cambridge 3-0 on Thursday evening.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-12, 25-8.
Reagan Gebo and Madison Whaley had strong matches for the Tanagers. Gebo had seven kills. Whaley contributed five kills.
Cassandra Wade had 12 assists for Hartford.
Cambridge received five points and three kills from Isabel Darfler. Anna Bailey had seven assists.
Hartford is now 4-1. Cambridge is 0-3.
Corinth Tops Granville
Corinth dropped the opening game but then roared back to win the next three as they topped Granville 3-1 in Adirondack League volleyball.
Set scores were 23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-19.
Erin Ward served up 16 points and Samantha Petteys added 12 points and 12 assists for the Riverhawks.
Corinth also got eight points and five aces from Teagan Grady, 10 kills and five points from Avalon Yanke, and four aces apiece from Petteys, Ward, and Yanke.
Granville was led by Courtney Ennis with 13 points and Katherine Hyatt with seven points. Both had five aces.
Corinth is 2-1, 2-1. Granville is 1-2, 1-2.
Hadley-Luzerne Defeats Lake George on the Pitch
Hadley-Luzerne made history in girl’s soccer Thursday, defeating Lake George 2-1. It was the first time the Eagles had taken down the Lakers in program history.
Hadley-Luzerne began playing girl’s soccer at the varsity level in 2007 and had never beaten Lake George.
Carolina Lott-Diamond scored both goals in the first half for Hadley-Luzerne. Lott-Diamond buried a penalty kick with 6:29 left in the half to give the Eagles the momentous win.
Mykah Collier-Fisher scored for the Lakers.
Sarah Abbott and Madison Lent combined for 18 saves for the Eagles. Lent had to leave the game for a bit with an injury.
Alex Cavalier finished with four saves for the Lakers.
Hadley-Luzerne improved to 2-1, 2-2.
Bolton-Warrensburg Rolls Past Salem
Bolton-Warrensburg continued to play well as they rolled past Salem 7-0 in Adirondack League girls soccer.
Avah Fiorentino scored four goals to lead B-W to the win. Eli York added two goals and two assists.
Megan Langworthy also scored for the winners, who also got an assist from Madison Godspeed.
Hope Sherman recorded the shutout in goal with three saves for B-W. It was the fourth straight shutout for Sherman.
Bella Garrison made 15 stops for the Generals.
Bolton-Warrensburg improved to 3-0 in the league and 4-2 overall.
