Hartford opens volleyball with 2 wins

Hartford opened its volleyball season with a 3-0 sweep of Corinth in Adirondack League play on Wednesday evening at the Ella Colvin Gym.

Game scores were 25-14, 25-19, 25-7.

Wendy Harrington’s squad was young and rebuilding a year ago but are looking to return to the top of the league this season. They are certainly off to a solid start.

Alawnah Dunda led the Tanagers with 20 service points, seven aces, and four kills. Cassie Wade added 17 assists, nine points, and two aces. Raeghan Liebig chipped in nine points, four aces, six kills, and eight digs.

Samantha Petteys had four points and three assists and Teagan Grady added six points, two aces and three digs for the Riverhawks.

Hartford is 1-0. Corinth is 0-1.

Friday night Hartford earned its second straight win to open the season, sweeping Fort Edward 3-0 in a league match also played at home. 

Game scores were 25-11, 25-11, 26-24.

 Liebig led the Tanagers with 18 service points, seven aces, seven kills, and 19 digs.

 Wade had another strong match with 17 assists, 11 points, and six digs.

Olivia Lindridge contributed five kills, nine digs and four aces. Dunda had five kills.

Natalie Durkee led the Flying Forts with five points, four aces, eight assists and four digs. Haley Saunders finished with 10 digs, Ollie Cutler had nine digs and three kills, and Kyley Varney added eight points and four digs.

Hartford is 2-0. Fort Edward is 0-1.
