The Granville-Whitehall football team was in a position to earn its first win of the season Thursday night but unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened.
Lightning from a line of thunderstorms that rolled through Rensselaer during the contest forced the game to be halted.
Granville-Whitehall fell behind 6-0 but then reeled off 20 consecutive points to lead 20-6 at the half. That’s when the inclement weather rolled in.
After several 30-minute lightning delays the decision was made to reschedule the completion of the game.
The game is set to resume on Monday at 6 p.m. at Rensselaer’s Norm Preston Field.
Granville-Whitehall entered the game 0-1 after a 12-10 loss to Taconic Hills last Friday night.
It will be a busy week for the team as they will also travel to Coxsackie-Athens for a game Friday night. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
