Police Beat: Vermont State Police


Aug. 23

1:45 p.m. Vermont State Police performed a saturation patrol along Route 4 in Mendon. Troopers stopped seven vehicles, issuing two tickets and giving six warnings. One individual was arrested for operating with a criminally suspended license.

The focus of the saturation patrol was on aggressive driving.

Aug. 24

10:47 a.m. Vermont State Police at the Rutland barracks received a report of a two-car crash on VT Route 103 in the town of Clarendon. The investigation showed one vehicle rear ended another that had slowed to make a right turn onto VT Route 7B. Troopers say the striking vehicle sustained substantial damage; the other vehicle’s damage was considered minor.

No injuries were reported. No traffic citations were issued, however a civil violation  complaint is pending.

August 26

2:42 a.m. Troopers were called to a Clarendon residence for a report of a domestic assault. Upon investigation it was determined 53-year-old Joy Bruno of Clarendon is alleged to have caused pain and/or bodily injury to a household member. She was charged with domestic assault, processed at the Rutland barracks and released on an order to appear in Rutland Superior Court-Criminal Division at a later date. Other conditions of release were also imposed.
