Middle Granville, NY – Neil R Petty, age 77, passed away at his home following a long illness.
Neil was born on October 19, 1945, in Granville, NY the son of the late Curtis and Helen (Hatch) Petty.
After spending his childhood in Granville, he relocated to Cossayuna until 1953 when he was drafted into the US Army. He proudly served from 1966-1969.
Upon his return home, he spent many years caring for his mother.
Neil was fortunate to always find employment at area farms, as farming was truly his passion. His “forever farm” was Red Top Dairy in Middle Granville, where he spent the last 19 years. His devotion was unprecedented, his hard work, kindness, smile and especially his sense of humor. He was a friend to all who knew him. He became a “family” member to the Thomas family. He was known as “Pops” and will forever be missed.
He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings. Survivors are his two daughters: Samantha Couturier and Kimberly Johnson. He is also survived by five siblings: Wayne, Wallace, Harold, Carol, and Nancy as well as his Red Top family.
