Lorna Betty Miller

Lorna Betty Miller, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on July 23 in Astoria, Queens. She went to sleep in her bed and opened her eyes in Heaven in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lorna was a longtime resident of Whitehall, NY, and a former business owner. In the 1980s, she had a jewelry store in Manchester, VT called LBM Silver Fine Jewelry and Gifts; and in the 1990s, she opened Bulldog Antiques, a collectable/antique store located in Whitehall, NY.

Lorna had an incredible sense of style, which was not surprising because when she first began her career in the 1960s, she was a fashion designer who dressed models for upscale department stores like Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdales. Part of her job responsibilities included setting up the models for photo shoots.

Lorna loved God, and she was an extremely patriotic, proud Republican. She loved the United States and prayed daily for this country.

She loved her friends and Out of the Box Worship Center church family (especially the Bible Study ladies) as if they were her own; and she had many people she was close to, too many to list all of them here. She made an impression on and impacted the lives of every person whom she met.

Lorna was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She was glamorous and could pull off wearing hats like no one else could. She was a giver and had a heart of gold. She was witty, sassy, fun to be around, and lived life to the fullest. Her spunk and bubbly personality brought joy to everyone who knew her, and she will be missed by all.

Lorna is survived by her longtime friends, Jessie Neddo (children Ethan Burriss, Emilee Bernard) of Whitehall, NY; Kathy Backer (Mary) of NJ; and Kari Hurlburt (and family) of Whitehall, NY; and her longtime pastor and friend, Rev. Pamela Bolton of Whitehall, NY. She had many other friends who were like family as well, too many to list each one individually.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held for Lorna at First Baptist Church (41 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY) on Saturday, August 19, at 11 AM. Please feel free to wear a fancy hat in honor of Lorna’s life. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.
