Former State Sen. Betty Little has been honored by the New York Senate as a Woman of Distinction for 2023. She was nominated for the honor by her successor, Sen. Dan Stec, who cited her long and distinguished record as a public servant and dedication to helping to improve our communities.

In making the announcement, Stec said: “It was my privilege to nominate former Senator Betty Little for this year’s New York State Senate Women of Distinction. I’m honored to consider her a good friend, mentor and colleague. Her record of service speaks for itself, and she’s been an inspiration to me and so many others.”

Stec added “Betty Little has dedicated her life and career to helping others and has a profound legacy as a great public servant for our communities. She is the epitome of a woman of distinction and more than deserving of this honor. It was great celebrating her career and accomplishments at this year’s ceremony.”

The festivities were held at the New York State Capitol on Tuesday, May 16.

Each senator was asked to nominate one woman from their district for the award.
