Tanaforts, Cardinals Advance to Class D Final

It will be an all-Adirondack League final in the Section II Class D baseball final. No.2 Hartford-Fort Edward and top-seeded Fort Ann punched their tickets to the championship game Monday with wins in the semifinal round.

Hartford-Fort Edward defeated Argyle for the second time this season, taking down the Scots 4-1 at Kelts Stadium in Waterford.

The Tanaforts fell behind 1-0 but plated a pair of runs in both the fourth and the sixth to take command.

In the fourth Ray Harrington drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Braden Whitney picked up an RBI on a groundout.

In the sixth, the Tanaforts added two more runs on Whitney’s two-out, two-run double.

Shea Squires had an RBI single for Argyle.

Drake Stewart tossed a four-hitter to earn the win on the bump for Hartford-Fort Edward.

Ben Cuthbert scattered six hits for the Scots.

Hartford-Fort Edward will be returning to the title game for the first time since 2019.

Hartford-Fort Edward improves to 8-4. Argyle closes the season 5-10.

In the other semifinal, Fort Ann edged Loudonville Christian 3-1 also at Kelts Stadium.

Callon Sutliff hurled a complete-game three-hitter and recorded 13 strikeouts for the Cardinals.

Fort Ann scored two runs in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from Josh Dornan and Sutliff.

The Cardinals added a run in the fifth on Jake Lunt’s two-out, RBI single.

Fort Ann will be looking for their first sectional title since 2017.

The Cardinals and the Tanaforts will square off Saturday at 4 p.m. at Joe Bruno Stadium. Fort Ann won the regular season meeting 5-2 at Bob Wilkins Field back on April 5th.

Fort Ann is now 11-5.

Warrensburg Reaches Class C Final

No. 3 Warrensburg continued the Adirondack League parade to the finals as they defeated second-seeded Galway 5-2 at Husky Field in Gloversville.

The Burghers plated four runs in the third to take control.

Brady Cheney was masterful once again as he fired a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Cheney improved to 11-1 on the season.

Daalten DeMarsh had an RBI single for Warrensburg, Cheney had a sacrifice fly and the Burghers scored twice on passed balls.

Tanner Monroe chipped in an RBI.
Burghers will take on Duanesburg in the final on Thursday at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy at 4 p.m.

Warrensburg is 18-2 on the season.
