Horde improves to 3-0 in baseball

Granville and Burr and Burton have built a bit of a rivalry on the hardwood with their matchups in the Legion Holiday Tournament. The Golden Horde and Bulldogs may be trying to establish the same on the baseball diamond.

Last Thursday, Granville came away with a 3-1 win over the Manchester, Vermont school in a non-league contest at the Ken Burch Complex.

It was a quiet week on the local sports scene as schools were on spring break, but the Golden Horde and Bulldogs found time to squeeze in a game.

Caleb Nelson was the winning pitcher. Nelson went five innings, tossing a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for Granville to run his mark to 2-0 on the season.

Cody Nelson was 2 for 3 at the plate for the Golden Horde. He also came on in relief for his twin brother and pitched the final two innings.

Trey Senevey had two RBIs for the Golden Horde. Brent Perry also drove in a run.

Granville improved to 3-0 on the season. Burr and Burton fell to 0-2.
