Schuylerville Central School District superintendent Gregg Barthelmas has issued a statement on behalf of the district regarding the Saturday night slaying of 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis.
“On Monday we learned of the tragic death of Schuylerville High School Class of 2021 graduate Kaylin Gillis. Gillis was a beloved member of our school community, a talented artist, and a kind, compassionate person. Kaylin has two younger siblings in the district, who we will surround with our love and support in the coming days, weeks, and months. Our school counselors are also available for our students and staff for support and grief counseling.
“We are deeply saddened to share such terrible news. While there are no words to bring true comfort, we can offer support to the Gillis family in memory of their beloved daughter who was taken much too soon.”
NYVT Media will continue to post updates on the investigation and eventual court proceedings, but we are also endeavoring to shine a light on who Kaylin Gillis was: a beloved member of the Schuylerville community.
