Granville’s ‘The Wizard of Oz’ a happy break from winter

Snow may still be on the ground, but spring was in the air last weekend, March 10-12, as the Granville High School Drama Club performed “The Wizard of Oz” co-directed by high school band director Jessica Stout and Granville Elementary School band director Madeline Coons.
The show involved students from the high school drama club as well as fifth- and sixth-grade students from the elementary school. Stout said that the show allowed the younger students who have not been involved in drama to get a feel for being on stage and “perhaps will inspire some to step into larger roles in future shows.”
The performances on Friday and Saturday night, March 10 and 11, and Sunday, March 12, were well attended, with audiences rooting for Dorothy and her companions while they watched the Wicked Witch of the West melt away at the end.
