Whitehall boys top Burghers, move on

It may have been just an Adirondack League crossover game that was played after the sectional pairings were announced, but it sure turned out to be a special night Wednesday as two players on the floor eclipsed the 1,000 career-point mark and Whitehall closed strongly to defeat Warrensburg, 55-49.

Both the Railroaders’ Cash Burgey and Warrensburg’s Steve Schloss scored their 1,000th career-point during the contest.

The Burghers led 40-33 heading to the fourth quarter before Whitehall used a 22-9 advantage over the final minutes to rally for the win.

Burgey led the Railroaders with 23 points on the night, hitting the milestone in the third quarter. Latrell Evans added 18 points for Whitehall.

Schloss paced Warrensburg with a game-high 25 points. Evan LaPell added 11 points for the Burghers.

Whitehall heads to sectionals with a 12-8 mark. Warrensburg also finishes the regular season 12-8.
