On a chilly Thursday, Jan. 12, Slate Valley Center in Granville welcomed back Rob Zollman, the founder of Whole Music Learning, to educate and entertain the residents of the 88-bed skilled nursing facility on State Route 40.

The music educator brings a number of different instruments with him and teaches residents about them all. The men and woman at the center particularly enjoy the interactive drumming component of the program.

“Rob does such a great job getting our residents engaged, and he’s excited about making music together,” said recreation director Andrea Kelley. “We are excited to have him come regularly to Slate Valley Center.”

Zollman, who hails from Brandon, Vermont, is also the founder of Hands-On Music, a company that provides music instruction, drum circle facilitation and has music classes for young children. It also provides instruments and accessories. Zollman also gets involved with and produces the yearly Vermont Blues Retreat in Brandon that takes place in August. He began visiting Slate Valley Center in 2022, and residents now look forward to his monthly musical visits.
