Granville Defeats Fort Ann in Nassivera Showdown
Granville head coach Justin Nassivera made it 2-0 against his father Kevin last night as his Golden Horde defeated Fort Ann 59-38 in Adirondack League boys basketball.
The Cardinals stayed close for a half, only trailing 24-17 at the break, but Granville got things rolling over the finals two periods.
Caleb Nelson poured in 24 of his game-high 26 in the second half.
“Once we got the ball moving and had a sense of urgency in our offense, we got better looks and scored some buckets the last quarter and a half of the game for us to pull away,” Justin Nassivera said.
Cody Nelson added 14 for Granville.
Javier Hernandez led Fort Ann with 16 points. Garrett Brown chipped in 13.
“We have a tough one at North Warren Monday night. We have to be ready to play right from the opening tip or it could get ugly for us. They are a good team,” Nassivera added.
Granville is now 9-1, 10-3.
Ingram Does Again! Leads Scots Over Hadley-Luzerne in OT
Hunter Ingram, fresh off a 50 point effort a couple of nights earlier had another huge game. Ingram poured in 42 points to lead Argyle over Hadley-Luzerne 90-88 in overtime in a key Adirondack League Division II basketball matchup.
With the win Argyle takes command of the divisional race with two losses to the Eagles three.
Hadley-Luzerne trailed by six, but used a 20-14 fourth quarter to force the extra session.
Brandon Saunders also had an outstanding game for the Scots with 32 points. Saunders knocked down seven 3-pointers. Dru Austin added 10 points.
Danny Deuel led Hadley-Luzerne with 26 points.
Josh Ellis had 16, Eugene Conroy 15, Matt Harder 12 and Caeden Wilson 11 for the Eagles.
Argyle is 8-2, 9-5. Hadley-Luzerne is 8-3, 9-6. .
Granville Girls Win on Senior Night
The Granville girls basketball team celebrated Senior NIght in impressive fashion as they defeated Fort Ann 50-14 in an Adirondack League contest.
The Golden Horde led 13-2 after a quarter and 27-10 at the half.
Senior Lilly Strout led Granville with a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds.
Melissa Beaver added eight points and Lauren Bascom seven.
Ella Olsen added 17 boards.
Granville is 4-8, 2-7. Fort Ann is 0-11, 1-13.
Hartford Girls Roll Over Cougars
Hartford exploded for their highest point output of the season, rolling over North Warren 75-42 in Adirondack League girls basketball. The Tanagers have won two in a row and three of their last four as they try to claw their way into the league playoffs as a wild card.
Alawnah Dunda scored 18 points and Mckenzie Johnson added 16 for the Tanagers.
Raeghan Liebig contributed 11, Cailin Severance nine, Cassandra Wade eight and Madison Whaley six for Hartford.
Kiki LaGuerre and Laci Bruno had 12 points each for North Warren.
Hartford is now 5-5, 5-8.
Burgey Leads Railroaders Over Corinth
Cash Burgey netted a game-high 26 points as Whitehall blew out Corinth 73-39 in Adirondack League boys basketball.
Latrell Evens added 15 and Jake Whiting 14 for the Railroaders. Isaiah Stevens had eight and Landon Stevens six.
Avery Wood and Kaden Wright had nine apiece for Corinth. Zach Guilder added eight.
Cougars Roll Past Hartford
North Warren continued to flex their muscles in Adirondack League boys basketball action as they rolled past Hartford 74-35 at the Ella Colvin Gym. The Cougars have won four in a row.
An 18-8 second quarter
North Warren led 24-12 after the first quarter. The Cougars used an 11-2 second stanza to fashion a 35-14 lead at halftime.
Sean Evans led North Warren with 25 points and eight steals.
Semaj Cuyler scored 17 points. Derrick Tyrell scored nine points and 10 rebounds, Cooper Morehouse contributed nine points and Angelo Willette added eight points.
Austin Wells had 14 points for the Tanagers. Drake Stewart added
North Warren is now 8-1, 10-3. Hartford is 3-7, 3-10.
Hadley-Luzerne Defeats Salem.
The big two combined for 33 as Hadley-Luzerne defeated Salem in Adirondack League basketball.
Madison Lent led Hadley-Luzerne with 19 points. Jordanna Kenny added 14 points for the Eagles.
Mary Kate McPhee was Salem’s leading scorer with a 20-point effort. Hannah Gongola added eight points.
Hadley-Luzerne is now 8-2, 10-4. Salem is 6-3, 9-4.
