Nelson Brothers Lead Granville Comeback Over Eagles 

Granville rallied from a big third quarter deficit to edge Hadley-Luzerne 54-53 in Adirondack League boys basketball at the Granville High School Gym Monday night. 

The Eagles led by as much as 17 in the third quarter, but the Golden Horde behind twin brothers Caleb and Cody Nelson were able to come all the way back for the win. 

Granville outscored Hadley-Luzerne 17-6 in the final stanza. 

Trailing 53-51 the Golden Horde scored off a sideline out of bounds play with 20 seconds left. Nathan Williams found Cody Nelson on a cut to the basket. Nelson hit the shot and was fouled. Nelson made the free throw to put Granville up by one with 9.6 seconds left in the game to complete the comeback. 

Cody Nelson led Granville with 19 points. Caleb Nelson added 18 points and eight rebounds. 

Will Jennings chipped in seven points. 

Caedin Wilson led Hadley-Luzerne with 14 points. Matthew Harder added nine, Josh Ellis eight, Eugene Conroy seven and Alex Mattison six. 

Granville improved to 3-0, 3-1. Hadley-Luzerne is 2-1, 3-2. 

Blue Devils Move to 3-0 

The Poultney girls basketball team won their third straight game to start the season, cruising past Rivendell 40-21 Monday night at Capman Court. 

An 11-0 run in the second quarter gave the Blue Devils control and they pulled away from there. 

Kait DeBonis led the Blue Devils with 10 points, Hailey Hayes had eight and Emily Handley had six.

Poultney is now 3-0 on the season. 

Warrensburg Tops Fort Ann 

Warrensburg earned an Adirondack League boys basketball win, topping Fort Ann 50-38 on Monday evening. 

Evan Lapell paced the Burghers a double-double. Lapell scored 23 points and hauled in 12 rebounds. 

Stevie Schloss added 15 points and eight assists. Brady Cheney recorded nine points. 

Dylan Brown led Fort Ann with 13 points. Javier Hernandez chipped in 12 and Callen Sutliff nine. 

Warrensburg is 2-1, 4-1. Fort Ann is 0-4, 1-5. 

Westside Grounds Eagles on the Road 

West Rutland came up with a big road win, rolling over Arlington 50-20 Monday night. 

The Golden Horde led 31-9 at halftime. 

Peyton Guay scored 24 points to lead Westside. Arianna Coombs added eight points for the Golden Horde. 

Sidney Herrington scored 10 points for the Eagles. 

West Rutland is now 3-0.
