Tanagers Fall to Generals in Girls Hoop 

Hartford got a big game from Alawnah Dunda, but it wasn’t quite enough as they fell to Salem 51-46 in Adirondack League girls basketball. 

Mary Kate McPhee continued her strong start to the season for the Generals as she poured in a game-high 24 points. 

Sierra Phillips added 10 points and Sophia Keays netted eight for Salem.

Dunda, one of only two starters remaining from last year’s Section II Class D champion team had a career high 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Tanagers. 

Cassandra Wade had nine points for Hartford. 

Hartford is 1-1, 1-1. Salem is 3-0, 4-0. 

Railroaders Find Balance, Roll Over North Warren 

The Whitehall girls basketball team used a balanced scoring attack as they rolled over North Warren 72-17 in Adirondack League girls basketball.

Four players scored in double figures for the Railroaders who won their fourth straight to start the season. 

This contest was never in doubt as Whitehall raced out to a 22-3 first quarter lead.

 Madison Gould paced Whitehall with 18 points. 

Ashlyn Groesbeck and Samantha Howland each scored 14 points for the Railroaders. Blake Bird contributed 10. 

Isabella Tucci and Addison Swan six points apiece for the Cougars. 

Whitehall is now 3-0, 4-0. North Warren is 0-3, 0-4. 

Shorthanded Blue Devils Come Up Short 

The Poultney boys basketball team has been decimated with illness and injuries so far this season. Head Coach Todd Montana wasn’t even sure who he would have available before Tuesday night’s game against Mill River at Capman Court. 

The Blue Devils put up a valiant fight, but in the end came up short as the Minutemen came away with a 38-33 victory. 

Ryan Smith led the Mill River with 17 points in the defensive battle. Michael Wierzbicki had 11 points.

Marcus Lewis led the Blue Devils with a game-high 18. Ryan Simons chipped in nine.

Poultney is now 1-2 on the season. 

Granville Bolton Blanks Hadley-Luzerne 

The Granville bowling team earned their first win of the season as they blanked Hadley-Luzerne 4-0 in Adirondack League bowling. 

Jackson Ketcham led the Golden Horde with a 436 series. Ketchum bowled games of 160,133, and 143. 

Melanie Bourn fired games of 126,145 and 148 for a 419 triple. 

Matt Getty added a 413 series and Josh Ketchum a 386. 

For the Eagles, Addam Bernash shot a 416 triple with games of 154,141 and 121. 

Garrett Carlton bowled games of 176,120 and 98 for a 394 series. 

Salem-Cambridge Wrestlers Top Tamarac 

The Salem-Cambridge wrestling team came away with the clutch pins when they needed them as they topped Tamarac in a non-league wrestling match. 

Pins by Ethan Adams and Declan Donaldson proved to be critical. Adams pinned Christian Harriman in 2:12 at 132 pounds. 

At 160 Donaldson pinned Joe Scheffler in 1:05. 

Michael Riche pinned Toby Goodman at 189 for Salem-Cambridge. 

Salem-Cambridge benefitted from five forfeits during the match.
